Anatomy and Physiology: Associations, Institutes, and Societies

AAA serves as the professional home for an international community of biomedical researchers and educators focusing on anatomical form and function.

The Anatomical Society (AS), founded in 1887, is a learned society with charitable status in the UK. Its aims are to promote, develop and advance research and education in all aspects of anatomical science. AS achieves these aims by organising scientific meetings; publishing the Journal of Anatomy and Aging Cell; making annual awards of PhD studentships, grants and prizes.

The mission of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) is to promote excellence in the teaching of anatomy and physiology. HAPS is open to anyone interested in Anatomy & Physiology Education, and currently includes over 1,700 members from high schools, two and four year colleges, universities, and private businesses in the United States, Canada and throughout the rest of the world.

The Physiological Society brings together over 3000 scientists from over 60 countries. Since its foundation in 1876, its Members have made significant contributions to our knowledge of biological systems and the treatment of disease. We promote physiology and support those working in the field by organising world-class scientific meetings, offering grants for research, collaboration and international travel, and by publishing the latest developments in its two leading scientific journals, The Journal of Physiology and Experimental Physiology.

The American Physiological Society (APS) is a nonprofit devoted to fostering education, scientific research, and dissemination of information in the physiological sciences. The Society was founded in 1887 with 28 members. APS now has over 10,500 members. Most members have doctoral degrees in physiology and/or medicine (or other health professions).
